Designer Marc Ecko began his career as a graffiti artist before founding Ecko Unlimited in 1993 – initially with urban T-shirts that quickly achieved cult status. His iconic rhino logo became a symbol of rebellion and individual creativity in fashion. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the brand conquered global markets, fueled by a strong brand presence in music and lifestyle scenes and collaborations with hip-hop artists such as Spike Lee and Chuck D. Ecko thus evolved from an underground label to a mainstream streetwear icon. In 2009, a majority stake was sold to Iconix Brand Group, which took full control in 2013 – but the rebellious heart remained.
